1. Vehicle usage scope.
Semi-trailers are more flexible and have a wider range of applications, capable of meeting the needs of short-distance transportation and urban distribution. Especially in areas with narrow roads or complex intersections, semi-trailers can fully demonstrate their advantages. While full trailers are more suitable for long-distance transportation and areas with longer driving distances.
2. Handling performance
Full trailers have a longer body and a relatively higher center of gravity, resulting in weaker handling performance. If driving skills are not paid attention to, accidents such as rollovers may occur, causing casualties and property damage. In contrast, the handling stability of semi-trailers is more stable. Due to the relatively fixed connection point between the tractor and the trailer and the lower center of gravity, rollovers and other accidents are less likely to occur during high-speed driving.
3. Body structure
Full trailers are generally composed of a tractor, a trailer, and an indirect connection structure. It can be regarded as a form of two trailers being spliced together. The connection points are suspended between the last axles of the front and rear trailers and are connected to the front and rear trailers through an interval connection structure.
Semi-trailers are composed of a tractor and a trailer. The front end of the tractor is connected to the rear end of the trailer through a universal joint, forming a steering fulcrum. The wheel axles of the trailer are placed on the non-traction part of the front end of the tractor. The connection between the front and rear ends is diverse.
4. Different towing methods
The difference between semi-trailers and full trailers lies in the towing methods. Semi-trailers are supported by the tractor, in addition to providing power, they also need to bear the rated load of the trailer. Full trailers bear the load entirely by themselves. Through the connection between the trailer and the tractor, the tractor does not need to bear the load of the trailer, but only provides traction.
